Paranautical Activity Video - New gun and a boss!
by Mike
In this video, I show off our new plasma rifle-ish weapon. As well as our new boss, a whale named Dobee.
I also show elevators, which are used to advance to the next floor once you’ve killed the boss.
We’re shooting to release a public beta very soon. Hopefully in a week or so. Keep an eye out for it!
I also implemented a GUI and a cool death screen, but I forgot to show them in the video. Whoops!
New guns, item rooms, and a new enemy!
by Mike
We’ve been working on adding some more weapon variety lately. We implemented a crossbow and a machine gun to that effect. The crossbow is a ton of fun to use. Very difficult to get good at it, yet insanely satisfying once you master it.
We also added a new enemy. It’s a giant moth. He flutters around, occasionally shooting homing shots. We call him Lecter.
Finally, we added item rooms. Item rooms contain special items that can make or break your run. Most items are stat upgrades that increase damage, movement speed, fire rate, ect. Some have more interesting effects like making your bombs stick to enemies.
I too, can post!

Just wanted to show that I can post to this site too, I honestly forgot I could do anything other than build game models.. hahahaa… so here you go Mike, my year is up! \m/\m/
Links Ahoy!
by Mike
I’m not sure why I keep putting “by Mike" at the top of these. It’s been nearly a year since Travis has posted anything…
Regardless, I’ve got some links to drop, so here they are.
First off, Paranautical Activity is on Greenlight now! Check it out here.
Paranautical Activity is also on IndieDB (Link). I post lot’s of screenshots there in between video updates, so that’s a good place to go to stay up to date on the latest developments.
Lastly, we got covered on RockPaperShotgun! The wonderful Craig Pearson wrote a rather amusing article on Paranautical Activity. You can find it here. Nearly fell over when I saw we got covered on such a big site!
An Explosive Paranautical Activity Video!
by Mike
This video preview shows off bombs and explosive barrels, delicious enemy loot drops, as well as a brand new enemy, Baahmba.
Baahmba leaps towards you, and explodes when he catches you. He’s a pretty tough enemy, especially if you get more than one ganging up on you.
Lot’s of new things that go boom in this video!
Another Paranautical Activity Update!
by Mike
We’ve been hard at work despite the holidays! Over the past few days we added our first boss, Skullito. A giant flying skull that vomits huge spiders and shoots green fireballs from his eyes. We also added textures to the environment, which go a long way toward making the game feel more like it’s taking place in an actual place, not just in a magical world of boxes.
Video!

I posted a YouTube video of Paranautical Activity today. It’s still pretty rough, but its coming along great.
Enjoy! :)
A Little Update…
by Mike
We’ve been hard at work on Paranautical Activity, and it’s coming along well. We’ve got level generation working, a few enemies in the game, and lot’s of interesting effects. The game is separated into pre-constructed rooms separated by doors. Clearing one room opens the door to the next. The rooms are spawned randomly. Here are some levels I generated earlier: (the green room is the initial spawn room)

We’re still working on making the environment look good, but even in it’s current basic state it looks pretty good.

I’m planning on making a video to show off gameplay soon, so stay tuned!
And Now For Something Completely Different
by Mike
We’ve been working on Eris for 6 months now, and I’m sure some of you have noticed the updates getting smaller and smaller the past few weeks. We’ve been feeling pretty burnt out here at the Code Avarice headquarters.
We decided that in light of the holiday season, we’d take some time off Eris. Spend time relaxing, and working on a smaller game.
This smaller game is a fast paced voxel based roguelike FPS. Sort of like Doom meets Binding of Issac meets Cube World. It’s set on a ghost ship, and it’s working title is Paranautical Activity (zing!). We started working on it 2 days ago, and we’re having a lot of fun with it!
We’ll be posting updates sporadically over the next few weeks.
Cue screenshots!
