Paranautical Activity V1.7 ULTRAPATCH Commentated Video Preview

by Mike

Hey guys, just a heads up that I’ve been doing some commentated playtesting over at my youtube channel as well as live on my twitch channel. This patch is really exciting and it should be coming out very soon. (in a few days even!)

Here’s the first of many commentated playtesting sessions.

You can find the vod for my live playtesting stream here:

P1: http://www.twitch.tv/spooderw/b/469425019

P2: http://www.twitch.tv/spooderw/b/469432905

Some highlights of what’s coming in the new patch:

  • 25 new items!
  • Superweapons - alternate weapons that are much more powerful than standard weapons, but have limited ammo.
  • Powerups - consumable upgrades that give you timed benefits. anything from 15 seconds of increased speed or damage to refilling your health/ammo.

I’ve also sent this build out to a small group of Paranautical Activity let’s players to help playtest. Green9090, Bisnap, iDubbbz and HJTenchi are the only ones to have recieved the build thus far, but I will continue to expand the testing group as the build proves more stable. Expect videos/streams of the new patch from those fellas as well.

Paranautical Activity is available NOW on Steam! HOW TO GET YOUR KEY/CODE.

by Mike

Paranautical Activity is available now on Steam via the early access program. Get it here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/250580/

HOW TO GET YOUR KEY IF YOU PREVIOUSLY PURCHASED

Desura: Go to http://www.desura.com/collection and click “keys” next to PA, if you bought the game on Desura this will give you a steam key. Redeeming free Desura keys will not yield a free Steam key as well.

IndieGameStand: Go to https://indiegamestand.com/wallet.php and click the “Request Steam Key” button next to PA. This will give you a steam key.

Humble: If you have the initial email you got when you purchased PA, use the link in that email to go to your PA page, and click the link at the top to redeem your steam key. If you lost that email, use the Humble Key Resender to get that link, and follow the same course of action.

Kickstarter: You should have received your Humble Store code(s) via email, and can redeem a steam key via your humble library.

Groupees: Go to the groupees.com, log in, and go to “My Profile” (top right). Find the Paranautical Activity logo and click on it. Your steam key will be revealed below the image. We’re getting lot’s of reports of people who didn’t get steam keys on their groupees page. You’ll have to contact groupees about that, there’s nothing we can do on our end.

BMT Micro: You should have received your Steam key via email. Check your spam folder if you didn’t receive it. If you were gifted your code the steam key will still go to whoever initially bought it.

GamersGate: I’m pretty sure they don’t have support for Steam keys.

IF YOU DIDNT GET A CODE AND YOU SHOULD HAVE

If based on the info above you think your code should have come through already and it hasn’t (make sure to check your spam folder for emailed keys), email us at admin@codeavarice.com. Once we verify that you have the game and have not received a code, we will make sure we get you a code.

We got greenlit! And we’re adding multiplayer Co-Op! And other things!

by Mike

Well, it finally happened. WE GOT GREENLIT! Valve greenlit a whopping 100 games, and we managed to slip through with the masses. As soon as we can get the paperwork finished for our LLC done we should be on Steam Early Access. Oh, and we did a victory stream as soon as we got greenlit, you can find a VOD of that here.

We’re also adding Co-Op. I’ve been dreading it for some time, but it’s coming along pretty well. Hopefully we’ll have some sort of teaser ready for that in a week or so. We should have the multiplayer patch out sometime this month.

Writing netcode has been really burning me out, so I started doing Let’s Plays (something I’ve been interested in trying for a while) to give me something else to occupy my mind other than netcode. I’ve also started a series of streams on my twitch channel trying to teach people how to make an FPS in Unity.

Our Kickstarter is about to end, and we managed to hit and exceed our goal. That, combined with being on steam, means hopefully money shouldn’t be much of a problem for a little while.

I can’t thank you guys enough for your continued support. Paranautical Activity has surpassed even my wildest dreams. It’s hard to believe that things are finally going so well for us.

Support Paranautical Activity on Steam Greenlight!

by Mike

We need all the votes we can get! You can vote for us here: codeavarice.com/greenlight

We had a deal with Adult Swim to publish our steam release. However since we had an old greenlight page set up for the game Valve decided they “didn’t want to send the message that indies can seek out publishers to bypass steam greenlight” and pulled the rug out from under our feet. All of our promotion and planning has been done expecting to get on steam with no problem, so we’re in a pretty rough spot.

We did a little mini-interview thing with Green where we go into a bit more detail on our current situation, and Travis tries to start a revolution.

Every vote counts!

What do you want to see in 1.5?

by Mike

We’re taking a few days off after the ridiculous megapatch, but we’re wondering what we should do next once we’re back to work in a day or two. We’ve got some cool ideas for stuff we can implement next, but I want to get some community feedback as to exactly what we should be working on.

So, what do you want to see?

As prophesied, the megaupdate has risen!
